Valley of Flowers is a magic land that was hidden from all for a long long time. It was discovered by accident in 1931, when a team of British mountaineers led by Frank S. Smythe, lost their way while descending from Mt. Kamet and landed in the valley. Botanist, Holdsworth, accompanying the expedition first saw and was awestruck by the blue shade of the valley. The shades of the valley can be witnessed even today during monsoon months from July to September.

Every adventure has its own set of risks and precaution one needs to take.
Triund Trek is a beginners easy-grade trek. But the same makes it risky because many first timers come who are unaware of the basic risks in adventure.
Risks in a fine weather day can be pain in the legs due to fatigue, injury due to slip or fall. Mountains can also present harsher climates which include heavy storm and rainfall, snowfall etc. They may add risk to the route.
Tourists are not allowed to stay overnight in the Valley of Flowers and therefore there is no accommodation in the Park. You can stay at private lodges and hotels at Ghovindghat.
Mobile network availability is one of major issue in the valley. There is availability of Idea & BSNL networks but signals are quite weak. However, land line STD booths are available with reliable service at Ghangharia at slightly higher prices.
The trek to Valley of Flowers (VoF) and Hemkund starts a little beyond Joshimath, at a pilgrim hamlet called Govind Ghat. Leave Haridwar or Rishikesh early in the morning and travel along River Alakananda on the Badrinath highway.
The location has a pleasant climate throughout the year. However, the best time to go for the trek is from July to September, after the first monsoon rains and when the flowers are in full bloom.
