    Description

    McLeodganj is base for many popular long and short treks. The most popular of the trail leads to Laka, which is a short trek of 14 kms from Mcleodganj but takes you to great seclusion from the worldly pleasures. Laka trekking is an adventure and nature lover’s paradise. Triund is a mid point from Mcleodganj (9km). In such short time it takes you from the city life to a different world. Triund is a magical place in itself! The first glimpse of this amazing grass top ridge.Triund is Situated height of cover 28,00 meters.

    Situated at a height of over 32,00 meters, Laka offers you a chance to be as close to the mountains as you could get in a short  trek.  Trek is open round the year, though a little difficult from December to February as is covered in snow.  Further one can go scaling the Moon Peak or crossing the Indrahar Pass.

    The Laka trek in winters becomes a little difficult and the risk involved is higher in snow as the trail is hidden by the snow.     Itinerary

    Day 1 – Mcleodganj to Triund

    You will have to report at the base camp Mcleodgang earlier than 9:00 am. Post which you will be trekking to Triund visa Dharamkot.which will be 9 km trek and will take 5 to 6 hours Will have your lunch on the way. you will be camping overnight and we served hot Dinner at Triund campsite.

    Day 2 – Triund to Laka Glacier

    After breakfast,the journey start s from Triund to Laka Glacier. It will be 6 km trek and will take 5 to 6 hours to reach.  Will have lunch  on the way.Laka Glacier  is full of snow and ice in early summer and snow melts away during the monsoon So we will also have some activities on snow.We served warm dinner and overnight stay  in the camp at Laka Glacier.

    Day 3 – Laka to Mcleodganj

    After breakfast at camp you walk down. There is a possibility of taking a same route on the way back which is steep downhill via Dharamkot village. .  End of the Trek. A Room can be booked for wash and change before you proceed back to your next destination.

    Custom Trek

    We do not run fixed departures for the trek. It’s only run on private custom basis on date of your choice.

    Cost Terms

    Inclusions:

    • All camping equipment, i.e. tents, sleeping bags, mattress.
    • All meals during the trek.
    • Services of a local and professional guide.
    • All kitchen equipment, ration, cook and helpers.
    • Camping toilet tent.
    • Portage of equipment and tents.
    • All government and forest permits.

    Exclusions:

    • Any other service not mentioned above.
    • Any refreshment, snacks, energy drinks for personal use.
    • Water for any Purpose at Triund or along the way (can be bought at shops).
    • Any additional portage / mule for personal luggage.
    • Any tips or gratitude.
    • GST (5%)

    Cancellation Policy:

    • Up to 30 Days :- 90% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.
    • Between 21 – 30 Days :- 60% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.
    • Between 20 – 11 Days :- 30% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.
    • Less than 10 Days :- No refund.

    Important Note:

    • We expect all our trekkers to maintain cleanliness at the campsite and throughout the trail. Please do not litter around and if possible, collect garbage on the way and dispose it off at proper sites. Please also enjoy responsibly and do not disturb fellow trekkers while on trek.
    • There is no water supply at Triund. Our Toilet Tents are dry pit style. So kindly carry basic toiletries.
    • Any additional costs due to weather / unforeseen situations, will have to be borne by the traveller.
    • Our team reserves the right to change the plan in case there is danger involved for the group or whenever the trek leader deem it necessary.
    • Final word of the trek leaders will have to followed by all the members.
    • No show and trek changes/cancellation due to bad weather or natural calamity will be non-refundable.

    RISKS & PRECAUTIONS

    Every adventure has its own set of risks and precaution one needs to take.

    Laka Glacier Trek is a beginners easy-grade trek. But the same makes it risky because many first timers come who are unaware of the basic risks in adventure.

    Risks in a fine weather day can be pain in the legs due to fatigue, injury due to slip or fall. Mountains can also present harsher climates which include heavy storm and rainfall, snowfall etc. They may add risk to the route.

    Precautions for Triund -Laka Glacier Trek

    • Most important thing is that you plan for the worst, go with a local guide and listen to instructions at all times.
    • Stick to the main route as much as possible. Locals may be using shortcuts because they know the place inside out and are used to the terrain.
    • Consumption of alcohol or other intoxicants should be strictly avoided.
    • Water intake should be kept high.
    • It is not advisable to trek or leave the camp too far after sunset.
    • Avoid going near steep unmarked slopes.
    • Stop for clicking pictures. Do not go to the edge for clicking selfies.
    • While giving way to the mules that pass-by, always and always stand to the mountain side.

    Can services be upgraded to match our needs?

    Definitely, yes. We have crafted one basic backpackers package to suit weekend trekkers’ demands. However, we can custom make a program to suit your needs. We can add on premium services that upgrades everything from stay, to guide, to food menu and overall camping experience. We can even club the trek with add-ons like Mountain Yoga, Bird-Watching, Adventure Activities etc. in case you want.

    Can We leave Our Extra Luggage at McLeodganj?

    Yes, sure. We have a small office space in McLeodganj . you can leave your luggage. But please make sure that it is as compact as possible to have space for others too. Also, avoid any valuable in the bag and secure it nicely.

    I can’t carry my bag, can anyone carry it for me?

    Yes, you can offload your bag. But you should intimate us at least 3 days in advance and we will advice additional charges accordingly.

    What type of food is served during a trek?

    We  serve vegetarian food during the Laka trek with a choice of eggs sometimes, as per the trek menu. However, we can add non-vegetarian option or meet any dietary requirement like gluten-free / vegan on custom basis.
