Brief:

Kareri is a high altitude, fresh water lake of the Dhauladhar range of Himachal Pradesh. It lies to the South of Dharamshala in Kangra District of Himachala Pradesh with an altitude of approximately 3200 mtrs or 10,500 feet.
Main source of the Lake is the melting snow of the Dhauladhar range, hence the water visibility in the Lake is very high. one can even see the river at most of the places of the Lake. The Lake remains frozen from early December to April. Kareri Lake also serves as the base for the further treks for Chamba and Bharmour through Minkiani Pass.

Kareri Lake trek starts from the Naddi village near McLeodganj (A famous hill station of Dharamshala). Kareri Lake is named after this nearby gaddi village. Kareri lake is further 13 kms Uphill to the Kareri Village. Trekking trail is easy to moderate at some places that goes along with the Nyund (Liund) Stream of the Kareri Lake. The lake is frozen in winters and is situated right at the base of the main Dhauladhar Mountain ridge.

- All kitchen equipments, ration, cook and helpers.
- Boiled drinking water only for drinking purposes at the lake campsite.
- Camping toilet tent.
- Portage of equipments and tents.
- All government and forest permits.

Exclusions:

- Any other service not mentioned above.
- Any refreshment, snacks, energy drinks for personal use.
- Water for any purpose during the trek or Kareri Lake. Stream water can be refilled in your personal bottles (It is advisable to carry water purification tablets or carbon-filtering bottle as at times the water can be unsafe. Alternatively, you can purchase packaged water from shops at the lake or on route).
- Any additonal portage / ponny for personal luggage.
- Any tips or gratitude.
- GST (5%)

Cancellation Policy:

Up to 30 Days :- 90% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.
Between 21 - 30 Days :- 60% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.
Between 20 - 11 Days :- 30% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.
Less than 10 Days :- No refund.
*GST paid is non-refundable.

 

Note:

- MINIMUM 04 TREKKERS TO RUN THE TREK AT THIS COST. IN CASE OF LESS NUMBER EITHER ADDITIONAL COST WOULD BE LEVIED OR TREK WOULD BE CANCELLED.
- THIS IS A GROUP PRICE. TREKKERS ARE REQUESTED TO REPORT AT OUT OFFICE IN MCLEODGANJ BY 09:30 a.m. FAILING WHICH THE GROUP WILL MOVE AND ANY ADDITIONAL COST INCURRED FOR ADDITIONAL GUIDE WILL HAVE TO BE BORNE BY THE TREKKERS. IN CASE OF UNAVAILABILITY OF ADDITIONAL GUIDE, THE TREK WILL BE CONSIDERED AS A NO SHOW AND FULL AMOUNT WILL BE CHARGED.
- We expect all our trekkers to maintain cleanliness at the campsite and throughout the trail. Please do not litter around and if possible, collect garbage on the way and dispose it off at proper sites. Please also enjoy responsibly and do not disturb fellow trekkers while on trek.
- Please do not forget to carry – One Jacket, Shoe with a good grip, Woollen Socks, Torch, Cap, Sunglasses, Water Bottle, Personal Medicines, Hand Sanitizer and Toilet Paper.
- Our Toilet Tents are dry pit style. So kindly carry basic toiletries.
- Any additional costs due to weather / unforeseen situations, will have to be borne by the traveller.
- Our team reserves the right to change the plan in case there is danger involved for the group or whenever the trek leader deem it necessary.
- Final word of the trek leaders will have to followed by all the members.
- No show and trek changes/cancellation due to bad weather or natural calamity will be non-refundable.

How to reach Kareri Village:

Location:
It lies in the remote setting and has been recently connected to road though road is unmetalled as per latest and no bus service is available. Kareri Village is 9 km from nearest bus service point at Ghera which is another 18 km from Dharamshala town.

Nearest ISBT - Dharamshala (27 km)
Nearest Airport - Gaggal (26 km)
Nearest Railway Station - Pathankot (95 km)

Best Way:
Easiest way to reach Kareri Village is to come to Dharamshala Bus Stand and hiring a vehicle from there. Vehicle can be chosen as per the group size and comfort levels, and money can be shared between travellers. Dharamshala to Kareri Village takes about 90 minutes drive.

Day No: 1
KARERI VILLAGE TO KARERI LAKE: Report our team at Kareri Village in the morning around 9 a.m. We will have complimentary breakfast till 10 a.m. and a makeshift washroom to freshen up. We start our trek which is about 13 kms. from the village. The trek is beautiful and moderate that takes about 6 to 7 hours on average easy walk. The initial trail passes through Kareri village and beyond Nioli Bridge takes jungle route along Niyund river that origins from the lake. The trail is a mix of steep steps and easy flat walk meandering along river for most of its part. We have our packed lunch on the way and reach our camps near the lake by late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at camps.

KARERI LAKE TO KARERI VILLAGE: After Breakfast, we trek back to the village. On reaching Village, we have our lunch. This will mark the end of a short, adventurous and rejuvenating trek only to keep the memories going of this amazing trek to the Kareri Lake.
