Kareri is a high altitude, fresh water lake of the Dhauladhar range of Himachal Pradesh. It lies to the South of Dharamshala in Kangra District of Himachala Pradesh with an altitude of approximately 3200 mtrs or 10,500 feet.
Main source of the Lake is the melting snow of the Dhauladhar range, hence the water visibility in the Lake is very high. one can even see the river at most of the places of the Lake. The Lake remains frozen from early December to April.Kareri Lake also serves as the base for the further treks for Chamba and Bharmour through Minkiani Pass.

Kareri Lake trek starts from the Naddi village near McLeodganj (A famous hill station of Dharamshala). First day of the trek leads us to the village of Kareri which about 13 kms trek from McLeodganj. Kareri Lake is named after this nearby gaddi village. Kareri lake is further 13 kms Uphill to the Kareri Village. Trekking trail is easy to moderate at some places that goes along with the Nyund (Liund) Stream of the Kareri Lake. We camp at Riyoti (Liyoti) next to the creek on one of the days. Trekking route is quite serene with the Rhododenderon flowers (State Flower of Himachal Pradesh) embarking there beauty all along the trail.

Note: Crazy Peaks expects you to carry your personal luggage on your own, if you don’t want to carry your backpack so you can give it to porter, but you have to inform us in advance and have to pay Rs. 250/- extra per day per bag.

Cancellation Policy:

Up to 30 Days :- 90% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.
Between 21 - 30 Days :- 60% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.
Between 20 - 11 Days :- 30% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.
Less than 10 Days :- No refund.

Any additional costs due to weather / unforeseen situations, will have to be borne by the traveller.
Our team reserves the right to change the plan in case there is danger involved for the group or whenever the trek leader deem it necessary.
Final word of the trek leaders will have to followed by all the members.

No show and trek changes/cancellation due to bad weather or natural calamity will be non-refundable.

Day No: 1
MCLEODGANJ TO KARERI VILLAGE: On day one, we meet at McLeodganj Main Square at around 9 am in the morning. After a quick tea and meet up with everyone, we greet everyone, pass on quick instructions and start our trek to Kareri Village. Kareri Village is an easy walk at mostly level surface. It will take us around 5 hours to reach the village through beautiful mountain and village trails. Bonfire and Dinner at the village campsite.

Day No: 2
KARERI VILLAGE TO RIYOTI CAMP: Second day of our trek and we start our trek from Kareri village campsite. Its a easy to moderate trek of around 4-5 hours with some parts being steep in ascent. Through Oak forest we will reach Riyoti (Liyoti) campsite next to beautiful Liund stream which rises from the Lake itself.

Day No: 3
CLIMB TO KARERI LAKE: After breakfast, we start our trek to the Kareri Lake. Kareri Lake is a beautiful mountain lake in the Dhauladhar Himalayas at the base of Minkiani Pass. We enjoy the beauty of the lake. The lake is frozen till April and partly frozen in May. The trail is green in Monsoon months.

Day No: 4
KARERI LAKE TO KARERI VILLAGE TO MCLEODGANJ: This is our last day of the amazing trek. After Breakfast, we trek back to the village. On reaching Village, we have our lunch and we drive back to McLeodganj. This will mark the end of a short, adventurous and rejuvenating trek only to keep the memories going of this amazing trek to the Kareri Lake.
