Dense deodars, pines and lush green meadows are characteristic of Khajjiar. Not to foregt that since Khajjiar is situated at the base of the Dauladhar mountains, the tourists here can get panoramic views of the mountains.

Air: The nearest airport is in Gaggar, Kangra (180km from Khajjiar), which is well connected to various places.

Rail: The nearest railhead is in Pathankot (120km), which is well connected to various parts of the country.

Road: Khajjiar is well connected to Chamba (23 km), Dalhousie (26 km) and Delhi (520 km).

Khajji Nag Shrine

One of the oldest and holiest temples in Himachal Pradesh, Khajjinag Temple is dedicated to Khajji Nag (serpent god).A little away from the lake is the temple of Khajji Nag belonging to the 12th century AD. In the mandapa of the temple one can see the images of the Pandavas and the defeated Kaurvas hanging from the roof of the circumambulatory path. The sanctum of the temple has been beautifully carved from wood.This temple is dedicated to snake (N?ga) worship and there are some snake idols inside.

Khajjiar Lake

Khajjiar Lake is a small lake, surrounded by saucer-shaped lush green meadow and a floating island. The dense growth of weed called vacha has made its earth spongy. Now the banks stand covered by a thick layer of earth, formed by the years of dust settling down on the weeds.This perennial Lake is fed by small streams and is panoramically situated amidst the cedar forests and hills.

Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary

Kalatop is a tiny city renowned for its wildlife sanctuary, Kalatop is blessed with natural flora and fauna.Kalatop Sanctuary was recognized as a game sanctuary on July 1, 1949. It lies between Dalhousie and Chamba at the northwestern extremity Daula Dhar. Dalhousie-Chamba Road runs through the sanctuary, which contains about 15 villages. In 1982-1983, there was a total of 1766 people living inside the sanctuary. It's on the way to Khajjiar at the toll barrier for Kala Tope, a road to the left of the barrier leads to the government rest house, a nice quiet spot and a great place for a picnic. The 3-km route through dense pine forests from Lakkadmandi to Kala Tope is simply exhilarating. No cars are allowed on this 3-km route.Khajjiar, Kalatop, Dain Kund, Lakarmandi, and Bara Pathar are the tourist attractions that fall in this sanctuary.
